Aerial Archaeology

In October 2018 and 2019, I was invited by he Aerial Photographic Archive for Archaeology in the Middle East (APAAME for short) on a flights to photograph sites in Jordan.

October 2021 Flight over Northwestern Jordan, Including as-Salt, Jarash, Pella, Umm Qais Beit Ras and al Husun

October 2019 Flight over the southern Jordan Valley as well as Petra and its environs.

October 2018 Flight over Jordan’s eastern desert.

The flight was to monitor damage to already documented sites as well as cover newly discovered sites that archaeological teams are working on.

You’ll be able to spot walls and other circular patterns in the desert floor, these are the remains of buildings and pens constructed over the period of millennia, of course the desert was much more human friendly back then with all manner of wildlife roaming the plains.
